OUR NERVOUS SYSTEM (part three)

When the sympathetic system persists past the real or imagined danger, we do not return to parasympathetic and so there is no balance between the two. No homeostasis. We have a dysregulated system. Some of the symptoms are:

anger

anxiety

cognitive problems

depression

fatigue

frustration

gastrointestinal issues

headache

heart disease

high cholesterol

hypertension

illness

inflammation

nervousness

no focus

no follow-through

on alert

panic attacks

racing heart

relationship(s) in distress

shallow breathing

sleep problems

stiffness

tension in our neck, shoulders, back

tightness

weight gain

and on and on and on.

It’s as though nothing is okay.
