AWARENESS, PART TWO: POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH (PTG)

In the mid-nineties, Richard Tedeschi and Lawrence Calhoun revealed five realms of growth: relating to others,

seeing new possibilities,

finding personal strength,

experiencing spiritual change,

achieving appreciation of life.

What is at the core of everything ?

Survival.

What determines outcomes ?

The factors in a person’s life and the personality of the person.

What are positive contributions ?

Being curious, being an extrovert, being active.

What are negative contributions ?

Numbing the emotions.

Emotions are information.

Are resilience and PTG the same ?

No.

Resilience is resistance to adversity.

PTG is change as a result of adversity.
